On Wednesday, May 7, Meritage Homes celebrated the groundbreaking of a new home donation that will be presented to a military family as part of Operation Homefront’s Permanent Homes for Veterans program.
The more than 2,300 square foot home will be located in the River Glen community in Angier, N.C.
“We looked at all of our selling neighborhoods, we knew that Angier was close to Fayetteville, and obviously the rich military presence. And so that felt right. And then our construction manager, Ezekiel Gomez is also a decorated military Veteran. And so those two things just made a lot of sense,” Meritage Home’s Division President Scott Roylance.
The two-story home features four bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and energy-efficiency features, including a multispeed HVAC system, and spray-foam insulation. Operation Homefront will select the recipient for the home and keys will be presented to the family around Veterans Day 2025.
“We're honored to have the opportunity to be a part of something like this. We're growing very rapidly right now. It's nice to see something we can feel good about happen as part of this. So thank you for choosing Angier, and we're just happy to be here,” shared Mayor of Angier Bob Jusnes at the groundbreaking event.
This marks Meritage’s 21st home donation and twelfth year of partnership with Operation Homefront’s Permanent Homes for Veterans program. Through this program, more than 690 military families have received the deed to their homes since the program began in 2012, equating to more than $105 million in home equity.
