McKee Homes honored with Alzheimer’s Association award; Announces $1 million pledge

McKee Homes, a leading North Carolina homebuilder is proud to announce that owners Pat McKee and Julie Russo were recently honored with the Alzheimer’s Association’s 2025 Award of Excellence. The award recognizes their steadfast dedication to Alzheimer’s research, risk reduction, early detection, education and quality care. Years back, McKee Homes pledged to raise $750,000 for the Association by 2025 and has proudly surpassed that goal. While accepting the prestigious award, McKee and Russo announced a new pledge to reach $1 million over the next few years.

For Pat McKee, it’s a cause that resonates on a deeply personal level.

McKee’s late father, Joe, was a successful businessman who also built homes for his family. However, Alzheimer’s robbed him of his dream of one day becoming a professional homebuilder. When Pat and his brother, Mike, formed McKee Homes in 2010, they dedicated the company to the memory of their father and created the Joe McKee Memorial Alzheimer’s Fund in his name. A percentage of every McKee home sold goes toward the memorial fund.

“Julie and I are so honored to receive the 2025 Award of Excellence from the Alzheimer’s Association of North Carolina,” said McKee in a press release. “This milestone, along with being one step nearer to reaching our pledge of raising $1 million for the Alzheimer’s Association, brings us closer to what really matters – a world without Alzheimer’s. While we’ve made incredible progress, our work is not complete, and we will continue to push forward in fundraising and support.”

Beyond its financial contributions, McKee Homes has created a community of support throughout North Carolina for all those affected by Alzheimer’s. In 2011, McKee Homes initiated the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event in Fayetteville. Fast forward to 2025, and McKee Homes consistently sponsors the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in all the markets in which it builds—the Triangle, Wilmington, Moore County and Fayetteville.

McKee Homes is proud of its partnership with North Carolina State University and supports the One Pack NIL collective. One Pack was created to allow student-athletes at NC State University to build their brand and use their platform to make a positive impact in their community. The partnership between McKee Homes and One Pack connects these athletes with the Alzheimer’s Association, where they can support regional walks and fundraising initiatives and ultimately bring awareness to the impact of Alzheimer’s. Most recently, McKee Homes met with football players at NC State to build awareness for its fight against the disease and connect the student-athletes with new opportunities to support the cause.
