A stretch of Rosehill Road in northeastern Fayetteville will undergo two closures this summer for a pair of roundabouts to be constructed.
An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will build the roundabouts at two Rosehill Road intersections, requiring these scheduled closure dates:
The contractor will keep the road open, and do no work, during the July Fourth holiday.
Drivers will be detoured onto Shaw Mill Road, Murchison Road and Country Club Drive to access Rosehill Road during the closures. They should be mindful of a longer commute and be alert near the work site.
The project was based on a review by NCDOT of crash patterns and traffic data. The contractor will build what are referred to as mini-roundabouts, which are smaller than the typical roundabout and fit within the existing right of way. These smaller designs have been shown to reduce injury and deadly crashes by 59%, according to a 2021 study by UNC-Charlotte conducted for NCDOT.
This NCDOT website illustrates the ease of navigating roundabouts.
