Local entrepreneur brews success with mobile coffee trailer in Raeford

Cierra Schmitt, owner of She Brews Coffee, has transformed her love of coffee into a thriving mobile business that's become a staple in the Raeford community. 

Starting in July 2021 in California, Schmitt began her coffee journey by serving customers from her home. After relocating to N.C., Schmitt began operating her mobile coffee trailer in July of 2024 in the Raeford area.

Schmitt's signature drinks include a popular Banana Bread Chai that customers love and the Honey Bee Latte featuring vanilla, honey and cinnamon. A standout feature of her business is a secret menu accessed via QR code, allowing customers to explore additional drink options beyond the main menu. Schmitt continues to experiment with new recipes, frequently sharing her creations on social media.

She Brews Coffee sets up at various locations, including McLaughlin Park on Mondays during the summer. The business is available for both public events and occasional private bookings.

Schmitt’s business is more than just serving up a great cup of coffee. She values connecting with new people. 

“I like the community aspect and meeting new people…I just like getting to know people's stories and getting to know the community. And I just love conversation,” remarked Schmitt.

Schmitt recently became a member of the Raeford-Hoke Chamber of Commerce to help expand her customer base further and continue to reach new community members. 

Schmitt balances being a military spouse, a mother and a business owner. She runs the trailer on her own during the week with one additional employee hired to help out on weekends. 

Looking to the future, Schmitt hopes to find a more permanent location for her trailer and potentially expand her team. Her ultimate goal is to add a drive-through service as well. 

"If I can do it, anyone can do it," Schmitt said, emphasizing her belief in pursuing entrepreneurial dreams despite life's challenges.
