The North Carolina Department of Transportation announced in a news release this morning that a section of I-95 in Robeson County will be repaved.
The resurfacing will cover a 13-mile stretch of the highway between South Carolina and the I-74 junction.
The project will be under a $17.5 million contract that was awarded to NCDOT last week.
Barnhill Contracting Co. of Rocky Mountain will begin the project by January and will finish the project by 2023.
Other improvements that will be made include milling and resurfacing, new, high-visibility pavement markings, raised reflectors that will withstand snow plows, storm drainage work and bridge preservation work.
Although the lanes will stay open during the day, people travelling at night should expect lane closures for the duration of the project.
