Fayetteville’s FAST changes service routes effective July 7

By Staff Report, posted Jul 2, 2025 on BizFayetteville.com

The Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) will have several service changes beginning Monday, July 7, designed to enhance service frequency, travel times and expand rider access.

These route changes are informed by the recently completed Fare and Service Equity Analysis, conducted in 2024 and approved by City Council in April to ensure transit access is both equitable and inclusive. The comprehensive study evaluated fixed-route and paratransit usage, fare payment methods, rider demographics and access to technology. Feedback from riders emphasized the need for increased frequency and better route connectivity.

Route Changes starting on July 7:

Riders who use FAST’s Paratransit Service, FASTTrac! are encouraged to contact FASTTrac! reservations at 910-433-1332 to determine if the upcoming service changes will affect their trips.

“These improvements are a direct result of listening to our riders and studying how to better serve our community,” FAST Transit Director Tyffany Neal said in a press release. “We’re working to ensure FAST evolves from a system of need to a system of choice.”

The Fare and Service Equity Analysis also laid the groundwork for a three-phase transition to a cashless fare system by 2028, beginning with smart cards, mobile payment options and ticket kiosks in 2026.
