Sani, a South Asian-inspired fashion brand based in Fayetteville, has its first New York City storefront, says Ritika Shamdasani, co-founder of the company.

A couple of months ago, Sani co-founder Niki Shamdasani, who is also a sister to Ritika, applied for Sani to be a part of Stacy’s Founded by Her directory. Stacy’s Pita Chips created the directory in order to highlight and uplift female entrepreneurs by including them in a directory for exposure. “We were so honored that Sani was chosen by POPSUGAR and Stacy Madison for their Founded By Her campaign,” Ritika wrote in a LinkedIn post. “This also led to a wonderful LinkedIn Live we had with The Female Quotient and Ronda Carnegie.”

The news of Sani’s latest accomplishment came only a week after the announcement that Sani was among 13 finalists across the state for the Fall 2021 NC IDEA SEED grant, totalling $50,000. The finalists will present before a review panel and five to seven winners of the grant will be announced on Nov. 12 at this year’s Ecosystem Summit.
