Today, July 3, Ms. Ruthie’s Doing It Bakery Boutique and Tea Shop celebrated opening its new brick and mortar shop located at 5474 Trade St. with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The event, attended by town officials, community leaders and residents, marked not just the launch of a new enterprise, but a heartfelt celebration of legacy and faith.
The bakery is owned by Mary Johnson and is named after her mother. Sharing recipes that have been passed down for generations, Johnson is continuing a legacy of building community through sharing delicious food.
Johnson shared an emotional message of thanks at the ribbon cutting, crediting her faith and family for their support throughout the journey.
“This isn’t just an opening, it’s a celebration of faith, love and perseverance,” Johnson said. “I’m so glad that you’re here to share it with me. So let’s make the day sweet in every way.”
The bakery serves gourmet cupcakes, cheesecake, banana pudding, pound cake, brownies and more.
Ms. Ruthie’s Doing It is open Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. After a successful grand opening where almost all of the sweets sold out, Johnson shared on social media that the business will be closed tomorrow, but restocked and ready to serve up delicious treats on Saturday, July 5.
