Two golf courses in Moore County acquired by Rolling Pines LLC

Steven Ekovich, executive managing director & partner of Leisure Investment Properties Group (LIPG), is pleased to announce the sale of the County Club of Whispering Pines and Foxfire Resort & Golf located in the Sandhills of North Carolina. LIPG Senior Managing Director & Partner Rob Waldron served as the lead gold advisor and represented both parties in the transactions. 

The courses were acquired by Rolling Pines LLC, a newly formed management concern with the parent company of Mid Pines Development Group. "We see great opportunities in both properties," said Kelly Miller, managing partner of the new ownership group, in a press release. "Our goal is to make significant improvements on all four courses and get them on an upward trajectory.”

"The Sandhills area is growing, North Carolina is growing, and Raleigh, Sanford and Fort Bragg seem to be getting closer and closer to us. There has been very little new golf built in Moore County in the last 20 years. This is a chance to polish some classic golf courses from outstanding designers and make them available to the public at a reasonable price," added Miller.

Both facilities are located just minutes from the Village of Pinehurst, a widely recognized mecca for golf. The two clubs each offer 36-holes of championship golf. The sale further underscores LIPG's role as the nation's leading advisor and broker for golf and leisure properties.

The County Club of Whispering Pines features two 18-hole courses, The Pines and The River, originally designed by Ellis Maples, a protege of the legendary Donald Ross. Set amidst rolling terrain and towering longleaf pines, the courses offer a classic Carolina Sandhills golf experience enhanced by scenic lakes and thoughtfully designed elevation changes. The expansive 25,302 square foot clubhouse includes a pro shop, recently renovated bar and grill, banquet space and cart storage located in the basement.

Foxfire Resort & Golf also boasts two 18-hole courses, Grey Fox and Red Fox, designed by North Carolina native Gene Hamm. With an emphasis on natural topography and scenic beauty, these courses wind through wooded landscapes and around tranquil lakes. The property includes a 6,074-square-foot clubhouse equipped with a pro shop, bar and grill, outdoor patio and lowered-level cart storage.
