Bridge in Coats, NC to be replaced

By Staff Report, posted Aug 18, 2025 on BizFayetteville.com

Turlington Road will close this week over Stewart Creek so the bridge can be replaced.

The road is scheduled to close east of N.C. 55 on Wednesday morning to allow a state highway contractor to demolish the bridge and replace it with a modern structure.

Built in 1956, the bridge is nearing the end of its service life and requiring more maintenance.
The road and new bridge are expected to open in April 2026 under the nearly $600,000 contract.

A signed detour will utilize N.C. 55, Red Hill Church Road and Ashe Avenue. Drivers should be aware of the longer commute using the detour and approach the work site with caution.
