Fayetteville Technical Community College announced this morning that it will offer a training and certification course in collaboration with Red Hat, a leading provider of open source solutions headquartered in Raleigh, starting next year.
The course is available to people interested in IT careers, but FTCC sees it as an exciting opportunity for veterans and members of the military transitioning into the civilian workforce who may be eligible to take the course for free through the school’s Transition Tech program.
In the spring, FTCC will begin offering courses for people who want to take the Red Hat Certified Administrator exam. Those who pass “will be positioned for jobs in the high-demand IT field and be better qualified for positions surrounding Linux, System Administration, and the cloud,” the press release said.
“This program offers students and veterans the chance to better prepare for a more lucrative, high-demand IT field that is expected to keep growing,” said Dr. Mark Sorrells, FTCC’s Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Services.
“We see programs like FTCC’s non-credit Red Hat certificate program as one of the areas that is able to bridge the gap between skills, education, and the workforce and labor market demands of employers,” said Nancy Bohannon, Vice President of State and Local Education at Red Hat.
