Harnett County seeking citizen feedback on greenway feasibility study

By Staff Report, posted Aug 29, 2025 on BizFayetteville.com

Harnett County Parks and Recreation invites citizens of Harnett County to attend a public meeting and share their feedback on proposed greenway routes.

This open house meeting will be on Sept. 9, 2025 from 5:00 – 6:15 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Harnett County Resource Center and Library – Room 103 B/C.

In the 2021 Harnett County Bicycle, Pedestrian and Greenway Plan, Harnett County Parks and Recreation identified three trail segments as priorities:

Harnett County is currently working with Alta Planning + Design to conduct a feasibility study on the creation of each, which will identify route alternatives. The results of this study will provide guidance on how to best implement the creation plans in phases.

The study will also analyze ongoing development, public input and past planning efforts.

Before proceeding with development, Harnett County Parks and Recreation is gathering citizen feedback to inform the decision making process.

Citizens are also highly encouraged to attend the public meeting to review the study process and hear public comments. This is an opportunity to hear explanations of the feasibility study and current plans and to voice opinions.

To review the draft study, visit Greenway Feasibility Studies.
