Fort Bragg announces temporary closure of Manchester Road

Manchester Road, a key route for many Moore County travelers, will be closed starting Sep. 8, 2025, between Morrison Bridge Road and Lamont Road. This is part of a larger road improvement project designed to make traffic safer and smoother for everyone commuting to Fort Bragg.

Fort Bragg is scheduled to close the entire length of Manchester Road (from Morganton Road to Lamont Road) beginning Sept. 8 for complete repaving. This closure is expected to last about 45 days. After completion of the repaving, which includes a process called full depth reclamation that rehabilitates the entire roadbed, the driving surface will be wider, smoother and safer for drivers.

Fort Bragg is partnered with the North Carolina Department of Transportation through an Intergovernmental Service Agreement to improve road conditions on post. This collaboration allows Fort Bragg to benefit from NCDOT’s expertise and resources, resulting in cost savings and faster project completion. To minimize disruption, phases of the project have been combined to reduce the overall closure time.
