Hounds Town Fayetteville to open in October

By Stephanie Meador, posted Sep 3, 2025 on BizFayetteville.com

Local pet owners will soon have a new option for doggy daycare, boarding and more, as Hounds Town prepares to open its doors in Fayetteville, N.C. The Fayetteville location will be the seventh Hounds Town location in the state - other N.C. locations include Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro and Wilmington. Franchisees Kristi Bennett and Aric Allen are excited to provide a unique, dog-centered experience for the community’s four-legged friends.

Bennett and her husband are local Harnett County residents and look forward to doing business in Fayetteville. Allen is a Veteran and currently works for the Department of Defense at Fort Bragg. Bennett shared that they’re also active members of the Greater Fayetteville Chamber and are excited to get more involved in the local community.

The journey to opening Hounds Town Fayetteville began in 2019, when the owners first explored franchise opportunities in the pet care industry. “We really liked Hounds Town from the research that we did initially,” said Bennett. “Their slogan is, ‘We do it for the dogs,’ so everything is truly done from the perspective of what is best for the dog, [such as] creating natural pack environments and trying to curate natural play groups.”

The search for the right location proved to be a bit of a challenge, but the couple ultimately signed a lease at 4225 Ramsey St., the site formerly home to Cape Fear Discount Drugs.

“It's a really good location. I think something like 40,000 cars travel up and down Ramsey Street in that location every day. We like the access to 295 being right there. We also liked that we're probably able to service some residents that may live in the northern part of the city, or even dipping into the beginning of Harnett County,” shared Bennett.

Hounds Town will offer a range of services, including all-day interactive doggy daycare, overnight dog and cat boarding, spa services (such as baths and nail trimming) and even a pet taxi service for pick-up and drop-off.

Reservations are required for boarding and for first-time daycare goers. Once a dog has passed the temperament test and been registered with the company, drop ins are welcome for daycare. The facility features five indoor and three outdoor play areas, as well as 39 boarding townhomes and suites.

A key feature of Hounds Town is its all-day interactive play.

“We are an all-day interactive doggy daycare, so all-day play. So the dogs are not kenneled during the day. They’re not put up. They are playing in play groups throughout the day, and that includes our boarding dogs. So if the boarding dogs are paying a fee to spend the night with us, that fee includes all day daycare, so we are a little bit different than some of the other daycare and boarding facilities,” Bennett said.

The facility will also offer flexibility for pet owners. “We’re going to be open a little bit earlier, a little bit longer, so people who maybe have off hours for work would still be able to use our services.”

The owners are also passionate about community involvement.

“We have a pretty cool program that’s called the Hounds Town Seal of Approval. So we can partner with shelters and rescue groups, and we can help increase a dog’s chances of getting adopted. We can take them into daycare and get them socialized with other dogs and people,” explained Bennett.

Once the shelter dogs have completed their stay with Hounds Town they receive a certificate that’s the Hounds Town Seal of Approval, so their future adopters know that they’ve been socialized with other dogs and humans. This can help increase a dog’s chances of getting adopted.

Hiring for Hounds Town Fayetteville is already underway. The team aims to be fully staffed and trained by the grand opening, which is expected to be in mid-to-late October.
