Rosie’s Pizza & Pastries prospers in growing downtown Roseboro

Rosie’s Pizza & Pastries opened its doors in January at 104 N. East Railroad in Roseboro and has quickly developed a loyal customer base. Named for the town it serves, the pizzeria is a hit amongst locals and visitors alike.

Buffy Brashear, the determined owner of Rosie's, has weathered setbacks, staffing struggles and county red tape to give Roseboro something it was missing, a local pizza place delivering quality food to the community.

Brashear’s background is in floristry and interior design, so owning a restaurant has proved to be a fun new challenge. Brashear’s journey to opening a restaurant began with her cousin, Judy Stone, whose experience running pizza restaurants inspired the focus on pizza. But county permits and unexpected difficulties took their toll, prompting Stone to pursue other projects elsewhere. However, Brashear pressed on, determined to see the venture through.

“We're doing really well. Business is growing leaps and bounds, daily. So I've been able to hire more staff, more cooks, a manager, so business is doing great,” remarked Brashear.

Operating six days a week for both lunch and dinner, Rosie's has found growing success, prompting Brashear to extend weekend hours to meet demand.

Menu items include pizza, parmesan bites, meatball subs, calzones and more. They also serve sweet treats for dessert. Over the summer they’ve offered ice cream, but during the cooler months they serve pastries.

While currently takeout only, Brashear hints at bigger plans—though not ready to reveal details just yet.

“There are bigger plans for Rosie's than what people are seeing right now,” stated Brashear.

Roseboro’s ongoing Main Street redevelopment has brought new energy, with events and concerts benefiting local businesses like Rosie’s. Community involvement is very important to Brashear. She’s currently gearing up for the second annual “Spooktacular Stroll, ”a free event for kids with games, candy and plenty of fun. Rosie’s sponsors the event alongside other local businesses.

Brashear’s connection to her customers is strong. With positive reviews and devoted regulars, she’s grateful for the support of the community.
