Sandhills Community College’s Workforce Development and Corporate Partnerships Division is hosting a manufacturing week on the main campus of Sandhills Community College from Monday, Oct. 20 – Friday, Oct. 24. During this week, there will be events for students who not only are in the manufacturing programs but for the whole campus and community.
One of the main highlights of the week will be “The Coolest Thing Made in Moore and Hoke Counties Contest” on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dempsey Student Center. The Coolest Thing Made in MO.HO.CO. (Moore Hoke Counties) contest is open to students, faculty, business leaders and the community. This special event will give the chance for companies to show off their products, connect with the community and even compete to be the one and only Coolest Thing Made in Moore and Hoke Counties 2025.
Competing in this contest will give a business or entrepreneur the chance to showcase their best work as the community gets to see the innovation happening here locally. Voting will happen onsite, which will give participants the chance to win votes and bragging rights in real time. Guests will get the chance to connect with tomorrow’s talent.
“Overall, it’s a great way to celebrate local manufacturing in our local region,” said Senior Director of Workforce Development and Corporate Partnerships at Sandhills Community College Taylor L. McCaskill in a press release. “Our vision for this event is to connect students, faculty, staff, and community partners in ways that highlight the incredible innovation happening right here in Moore and Hoke Counties. Events like this not only showcase the creativity and ingenuity of our local industries but also help our students see themselves as future contributors to the ideas, products, and solutions that make our community the very best in North Carolina.”
Space to compete is limited. Sign up by contacting Stephanie Lang at langs@sandhills.edu. Winners will be announced at the Talent Symposium on Friday, Oct. 24, in Owens Auditorium at the Bradshaw Performing Arts Center located on the Pinehurst campus at 8 a.m.
