County moves forward with plans for construction of new container site

By Staff Report, posted Oct 31, 2025 on BizFayetteville.com

Cumberland County will permanently close the Camden Container Site, located at 7427 Camden Road, on Dec. 29, 2025.

The closure is necessary to accommodate the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Camden Road widening project. The county is planning construction of a new and improved container site near the intersection of Parkton and Brisson Roads.

The project was advertised for bid and awarded to Kevin K. Jacobs General Contracting of Lumberton, N.C. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with the new site scheduled to open in fall 2026.

“The new site will feature improved traffic flow, enhanced safety, and greater convenience for our residents,” said General Manager for Natural Resources Amanda Lee in a press release. “We appreciate the community’s patience as we work toward creating a more accessible facility.”

Other container site locations are available throughout the county. A full list of sites can be found on the county’s website.
