It is with great sadness that the Town of Hope Mills announces the passing of retired and former Fire Chief Charles Steven Lopez.
Chief Lopez faithfully served the Hope Mills Fire Department for more than 30 years, dedicating himself to the safety and well-being of the community. Serving most of his career as deputy fire chief, the Town shared that he exemplified leadership, integrity and compassion throughout his tenure.
In 2023, he was elevated to the distinguished position of Fire Chief, serving with honor and dedication until his retirement in 2024.
Chief Lopez leaves behind a legacy of service, professionalism and commitment. His passing is deeply felt by his fellow firefighters, town staff and all who had the privilege of working alongside him in service to the Town of Hope Mills.
Arrangements for his homegoing service are currently being planned, and additional
details will be shared in the coming days.
