Meritage Homes and Operation Homefront have partnered to recognize a military family for their service by presenting them with a new, mortgage-free and energy-efficient Meritage home as part of Operation Homefront’s Permanent Homes for Veterans program.
Today, Nov. 7, Spc. Timothy Hunter, a Navy and National Guard Veteran, and his family received the keys to a new 2,300+ square-foot, four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home located in the River Glen community in Angier, N.C.
The family was welcomed by Meritage Homes, Operation Homefront and the community with an official key ceremony.
This marks Meritage’s 21st home donation and twelfth year of partnership with Operation Homefront’s Permanent Homes for Veterans program. Through this program, Operation Homefront has placed more than 700 military families in mortgage-free homes and deeded over $106 million in home equity since 2012.
Upon move-in, the Hunter family enters Operation Homefront’s Permanent Homes for Veterans program, which provides veterans and their families the opportunity to live in a home while working directly with a financial counselor and a caseworker to help them prepare for homeownership and learn strategies for achieving financial success. Once they complete the program, after a period of one to two years, they receive the deed to the mortgage-free home.
