Cumberland County welcomes Tufanna Bradley as assistant county manager

Cumberland County announces Tufanna L. Bradley as the County’s newest assistant county manager, effective Dec. 15, 2025. Bradley brings more than 25 years of combined experience in government, nonprofit leadership and public administration to the county’s senior leadership team.

Bradley joins Cumberland County after seven years with New Hanover County, where she served as assistant county manager and Health and Human Services director. In that role, she managed a workforce of more than 600 employees and oversaw a broad portfolio that included Health and Human Services, Public Libraries, Community Justice Services, Parks and Gardens, Senior Resources, Veteran Services, the Cape Fear Museum and more.

“We are excited to welcome Ms. Bradley to Cumberland County,” said County Manager Clarence Grier in a press release. “Her commitment to collaboration and innovation aligns with our mission and strategic priorities. I look forward to working with her as we continue strengthening the services we provide to our residents.”

Bradley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from East Carolina University and a Master of Public Administration from UNC Wilmington, where she also serves on the MPA Advisory Board. She is a Civic Fellow with the UNC School of Government and an alumna of multiple leadership programs. Her professional affiliations include the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), the National Association of Counties (NACo), the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) and the Consolidated Human Services Directors Alliance.

“I am honored by this opportunity and eager to serve the residents of Cumberland County,” Bradley said in a press release. “I look forward to working alongside the dedicated County staff and aligning my skills with the needs of the community.”
