Carolina Eye Associates is proud to announce a significant advancement in regional retinal care with another successful SUSVIMO™ implant performed by Dr. Arghavan Almony. This milestone offers new hope for patients living with neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), and diabetic retinopathy.

Carolina Eye Associates remains the only provider in the Sandhills, Piedmont or Triangle regions offering the SUSVIMO™ implant—including areas served by major academic centers.

The SUSVIMO™ implant is a long-acting, refillable drug delivery system designed to provide sustained and reliable anti-VEGF therapy. By dramatically reducing the need for frequent intravitreal injections, the device supports more consistent long-term treatment while easing the burden on patients and caregivers.

“The SUSVIMO implant is an incredible step forward for our patients,” said Dr. Almony in a press release. “Many individuals with wet macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema rely on monthly injections. This implant has the potential to significantly lighten that burden while helping patients maintain excellent vision. We’re honored to be among the first in the country—and the first in North Carolina—to offer this option.”

Dr. Almony  is currently accepting referrals and offering immediate appointments for patients with wet macular degeneration or diabetic macular edema who may qualify for this innovative treatment.
