Murray appointed to NC Government Finance Officers Association Board

Chief Financial Officer Tiffany Murray was recently appointed to serve as secretary/treasurer of the North Carolina Government Finance Officers Association (NCGFOA), a statewide organization that supports the public finance professionals responsible for managing taxpayer dollars across North Carolina. 

NCGFOA provides its members training, promotes best practices and advocates on behalf of local government finance professionals. The Association works to help ensure taxpayer dollars are managed responsibly, financial reporting remains transparent and communities across the state maintain sound budgeting and financial practices. 

As secretary/treasurer, Murray is responsible for maintaining the Association’s records, overseeing its budget and ensuring that all financial activities are accurately handled.   

“Good government starts with good financial stewardship. NCGFOA helps ensure that happens in every corner of North Carolina,” Murray said in a press release. “Personally, this recognition means a great deal because it affirms my dedication to public service. Professionally, it strengthens my commitment to responsible, transparent financial management for our residents.” 

In addition to professional development and statewide advocacy, the NCGFOA partners with key groups including the UNC School of Government, the North Carolina League of Municipalities and the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners.

The Association also oversees the Finance Officers’ Certification Program, which raises professional standards through experience requirements, continuing education and multiple examinations in areas such as accounting, budgeting and financial management. 

Murray's appointment reflects the City of Fayetteville’s ongoing commitment to excellence, accountability and strong financial stewardship that benefits residents and strengthens trust in local government.
