City of Fayetteville urges residents to apply to join a City board or commission; Fayetteville OutFront to hold meeting to discuss boards and commissions Dec. 16

Fayetteville residents are encouraged to apply for upcoming vacancies for the City’s boards and commissions.

Boards and commissions are made up of volunteers appointed by City Council to serve as advisors who help shape Fayetteville's policies and programs. This is a great way for residents to engage in their community.

Some boards may require appointees to have a special license or meet certain professional requirements.

There will be a public meeting to discuss what it means to serve on a City board or commission. This Fayetteville OutFront meeting is scheduled for Dec. 16 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the FAST Center, 505 Franklin St., in the Transit Community Room on the second floor.

The following boards and commissions have vacancies for residents to apply:

Airport Commission – 3 Vacancies
Audit Committee – 2 Vacancies
Board of Advisors for the Woodpeckers Capital Reserve Account – 1 Vacancy
Community Police Advisory Board – 4 Vacancies
Fair Housing Board – 2 Vacancies
Fayetteville Advisory Committee on Transit (FACT) – 4 Vacancies
Fayetteville City Planning Commission – 2 Vacancies
Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Commissions – 2 Vacancies
Fayetteville Next Advisory Commission – 3 Vacancies
Fayetteville Redevelopment Commission – 1 Vacancy
Historic Resources Commission – 2 Vacancies
Joint Fayetteville-Cumberland County Senior Citizens Advisory Commission – 5 Vacancies
Stormwater Advisory Board – 1 Vacancy

Residents can apply now through Jan. 31 at FayettevilleNC.gov/Boards. Qualified applications will be presented to the Appointments Committee in February. City Council will then approve the recommended applicants at a regular meeting in March.
