Funding available for local organizations to support City priorities

The city’s Economic and Community Development Department (ECD) is currently collecting proposals from local nonprofits and organizations to support city initiatives for the 2026-2027 Annual Action Plan that aim to improve residents' quality of life.

These initiatives are funded from grants provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), such as the Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) programs.

ECD is accepting proposals from local nonprofits and organizations that align with eligible ESG and CDBG objectives.

Funds will be allocated to programs that focus on the following categories:

Economic Development - Increase and promote job creation, job retention, self-sufficiency and economic empowerment for low- and moderate-income residents by supporting education, job training, technical assistance and small business development. Efforts could include strengthening workforce pathways, expanding economic opportunities and driving sustainable economic growth, particularly for underserved communities across the city of Fayetteville.
Public Services - Support public and community services that improve quality of life for low- to moderate-income residents, persons with special needs and individuals with disabilities. Eligible programs may include essential services that help reduce basic living costs, such as health services, food assistance and support for older adults and persons with disabilities. Through these efforts, the City aims to expand access to supportive services and strengthen the well-being of residents across Fayetteville.
Addressing Homelessness - Support housing and essential services that improve living conditions, increase housing access and reduce barriers for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the city of Fayetteville. ESG funds are intended to be used as part of a crisis response system grounded in a low-barrier, housing-focused approach to ensure homelessness is rare, brief and nonrecurring. ESG awards require a 50:50 match.
Affordable Housing - Expand access to safe, stable and affordable housing for low- to moderate-income households through the preservation and rehabilitation of existing homes. Funding may support efforts such as minor home repairs for owner-occupied single-family dwellings, with a focus on addressing emergency needs and improving long-term housing conditions.

Programs selected must be consistent with the goals and objectives listed above, and programs must be carried out within the city limits of Fayetteville.

All organizations interested in submitting a proposal for consideration may apply through the Neighborly participant portal linked on the Economic and Community Development Department’s website, FayettevilleNC.gov/ECD, under the “What’s Happening” tab.

Applications and proposals must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026.
