Southern Pines Brewing Company has announced that the company will be gradually shutting down its operations through Dec. 31.
On Sunday, Nov. 2, the company took to Facebook to announce that they would be shutting down their taproom and production brewery at the main Southern Pines location at 205 W Pennsylvania Ave. in Southern Pines.
They announced that they would open for the last time that day during the Pop Up In the Pines celebration. They shared their thanks to the community for over a decade of support stating:
“For 11 years, these walls have been home to more than just beer. They’ve been home to friendships, laughter, tears and the spirit of Moore County. We’re proud to have been local makers ourselves, creating something that brought people together.
Today we’re releasing the final batch of Drunken Vigils, our Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Coffee Stout, the beer that we have spent years perfecting and something we consider the peak of our brewing achievements. It feels right to pour it one last time surrounded by our neighbors and friends.
Thank you for 11 years of support, memories, and meaning.
Thank you for allowing this place to become part of your story.”
The company announced in a separate Facebook post that after five years in downtown Southern Pines, Southern Pines Brewing Company on Pennsylvania will be fully closing effective Dec. 31.
The company shared a statement which reads:
“This decision was not made lightly. Our current financial situation and circumstances beyond our control requires us to make this move now so we can responsibly wind things down as a company.
Since opening just before Thanksgiving five years ago, it has been a privilege to be part of the downtown community. We are deeply grateful to everyone who spent time in this space, shared a beer, supported our team, and helped make this the spot to see and be seen under this beautiful Magnolia tree.
Thank you to our regulars and our neighbors for being part of this chapter. And most importantly, thank you to the members of our team that gave this building its heart and soul.”
Originally, the owners stated that operations at other key locations for the brand would continue, but since then, the company has announced closures of their other locations including:
The Traveler, previously located in downtown Fayetteville. The Traveler was the newest addition to the brand’s lineup, a taproom in downtown Fayetteville operated by Southern Pines Brewing Company that opened in mid-2025 and has since closed.
The Buggy Factory by Southern Pines Brewing Co. also announced it would be closing via a Facebook post stating:
“We are sad to announce that The Buggy Factory will be closing effective Dec. 31
Over the past year, an incredible team poured their hearts into this place. While we truly hoped the concept could generate enough revenue to sustain itself, our current financial reality and circumstances beyond our control makes it necessary to close.
We remain incredibly proud that we were able to preserve the historic Tyson and Jones Buggy Company building and give it new life. Even as we close, we take pride in knowing that this structure was saved and will remain part of Carthage for future use.
Thank you to our guests and the Carthage community for welcoming us and supporting the vision. And to the team that gave so much of themselves, thank you most of all.”
