Walsingham Group, Inc. was awarded a contract for the Missile Defense Agency’s Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract, with a ceiling of $151,000,000,000. As a critical component of the Golden Dome initiative, SHIELD enables MDA and other Department of War entities to rapidly compete orders under a flexible enterprise vehicle.
This contract encompasses a broad range of work areas to support the rapid delivery of innovative capabilities to the warfighter with increased speed and agility—leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning-enabled applications where appropriate, maximizing the use of digital engineering and open systems architectures, and applying model-based systems engineering and agile processes across acquisition, development and sustainment.
If all options are exercised, work will continue through December 2035.
The contract’s structure allows Walsingham exclusive access to bid on government task orders related to the Golden Dome initiative. With the procurement phase already underway, the company is preparing for the possibility of both local and nationwide workforce expansion.
“They [the Department of War] are moving forward with the Golden Dome initiative, and they will release their requirements now, so we’re standing by ready to bid and to support the requirements,” shared Walsingham CEO Ed Petkovich.
The Fayetteville headquarters may see notable growth in administrative and technical support roles if Walsingham wins further task orders under this contract vehicle.
Petkovich acknowledged the vital support provided by the North Carolina Military Business Center, sharing that NCMBC helped Walsingham Group secure the award.
“North Carolina Military Business Center had an absolutely great conference call and events about this contract. They were a great catalyst for making us aware, making the region aware and setting us up for success,” remarked Petkovich.
The $151B ceiling and nine-year contract period signify numerous possibilities for Walsingham Group.
“What that means for us is great opportunity…When I look at that, that's sustainability and stability for us,” added Petkovich.
