Methodist University named a “2025-26 Must-Watch University in the U.S.”

Methodist University continues to earn national and international recognition for its approach and success in higher education. In the December 2025 issue of Higher Education Digest, the University is the cover story and featured as a “Must-Watch University in the U.S. for 2025-26.” The story says MU is “redefining higher education through access, inclusion, and community.”

The article highlights how Methodist University supports students not just academically, but also personally and professionally, and with an emphasis on education built with connection, opportunity and long-term success in mind. HED examines how MU’s mission is reflected through both its curriculum and student-centered support.

“We are deeply committed to preparing students for success in their professional lives and their personal lives,” said Stanley T. Wearden, Ph.D., president of Methodist University, in a press release. “Our goal is to educate ethical leaders who serve with purpose and integrity.”

This newest accolade joins an already prestigious list of recent rankings, achievements, and recognitions for Methodist University from various state, national and international ranking services and organizations that are not limited to, but include: Most Diverse University in North Carolina, Top 16% Nationally for Social Mobility, Prominent Online Program to Watch in the U.S., Military Friendly and Military Spouse Friendly, Top Universities in North America, Most Visionary Educational Leader and Best for Vets Gold Ranking.

As HED reported, Methodist University’s growth continues to be guided by a student-first approach.

“We focus on our people: our students, faculty, and community,” Wearden said in a press release. “This has always defined Methodist University and will remain our guide.”
