Professional Women in Building of the Sandhills host Industry Insight Series panel

Professional Women in Building of the Sandhills (PWBS), a council of the Home Builders Association of Fayetteville, recently hosted a successful Industry Insight Series event highlighting the significant contributions and leadership of women in the construction industry.
The event drew 60 attendees from across the building community for an engaging panel discussion featuring four prominent PWBS members: Lauren Furr, Shari Groover, Leslie Groves and Julie Russo. Each panelist shared her professional journey, lessons learned and perspectives on leadership, innovation and the evolving role of women in construction.
Panelists discussed both the challenges and opportunities women face in the industry and emphasized the importance of mentorship, workforce development and strong leadership. When asked what she hopes for future members of PWBS, charter member Julie Russo shared that she wants them to “grow leadership skills, have a safe space to discuss their challenges and support the community.”
In addition to the program, attendees brought nonperishable food items to be donated to PWBS’ s community partner, Fayetteville Urban Ministry, reinforcing the council’s ongoing commitment to service and community impact.
The Industry Insight Series reflects PWBS’s dedication to professional growth, leadership development and strengthening the residential construction industry in the Sandhills region.
