Methodist University, in partnership with the Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation, once again invites the community to campus to take steps toward better health in the return of the annual Step Up 4 Health & Wellness Expo on Saturday, March 28.

The event will consist of a 4K run and a 1-mile walk across MU’s 600-plus-acre campus, along with an expo portion that provides those in attendance with health resources and information from area organizations. The event will begin at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the morning as follows:

Walk & Expo Event Timeline:

9 a.m. − Registration

9:30 a.m. − Opening Ceremonies

10 a.m. − Walk (4k and 1-mile routes)

10:15 a.m. − Wellness Expo

“Step Up 4 Health & Wellness Expo is an exciting opportunity for our community to come together and focus on something that impacts all of us − our health and wellness,” said Ariana Bannerman, Cape Fear Valley Health’s community engagement development coordinator, in a press release.

Those in attendance can enjoy a morning of movement and connection, from walking, running, Zumba sessions, survivor’s laps or exploring the info tables and food vendors.

“This event is designed to be a fun, energetic morning for people of all ages,” Bannerman added in a press release. “There truly is something for everyone to enjoy.”

Proceeds will support multiple patient-care programs at Cape Fear Valley Health, including Friends of the Cancer Center, Children’s Services, Heart Care, the Cumberland County Medication Access Program and the Nursing Education Scholarship.

Bannerman said the partnership with Methodist University continues to help the event grow each year.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support of Methodist University,’ she shared in a press release. “Their partnership allows this event to grow and create even more ways for our community to come together and take steps toward better health.”

Tickets are $35 for adults and $30 for children 12 and under. Kids three and under are free. The Wellness Expo portion of the event is free and open to the public. Special discounts apply for those registering groups of four or more, plus CFVH employees and the MU community. MU students/faculty/staff should check the Monday morning Events Highlights email for discount details. All registrants will receive a free T-shirt.
