ERA Strother Real Estate has promoted Joshua Sparks to Broker in Charge, placing him over approximately 70 agents and the firm’s day-to-day brokerage operations.
Sparks, son of company founder Denise Strother, has been with ERA Strother for six years, returning to Fayetteville in March 2020 after managing a downtown restaurant in Nashville. He obtained his real estate license during the COVID-19 pandemic while working at the company’s front desk.
Before his promotion, Sparks served as director of business development, where he focused on bringing in new business and sponsorships, overseeing commercials and other media efforts and working with Five West Media, the firm’s media company. He also acted as broker in charge of ERA Strother’s property management arm, Empower, at the Fayetteville office.
Sparks steps into the broker-in-charge role following the departure of his predecessor, Ricky Evans, who left for another opportunity. In his new position, Sparks supports agents with client issues, contracts and compliance and assists with marketing strategy and neighborhood farming while continuing to handle his own transactions, particularly on the commercial side.
Sparks said his primary goals are to grow the agent base, strengthen production among existing agents and maintain a family-business culture that he believes differentiates ERA Strother.
“It's just an honor to be able to kind of take over and be everything that she [my mom] wanted at the beginning,” remarked Sparks. “I love helping people, that's the biggest thing for me, I love being able to help the agents and see when they get their first deal and see that check coming to them. It's just a joy and satisfaction.”
He credits his mother's guidance and experience as a key asset as he assumes the leadership role and works to expand the brokerage’s footprint and improve agent performance.
