New Candlewood Suites opens on Fort Bragg

Centinel Public Partnerships, in collaboration with IHG® Army Hotels, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Candlewood Suites on Fort Bragg and shared an exclusive preview of Normandy House’s renovation progress today, Tuesday, April 14.

The more than 122,000-square-foot hotel was built using cross-laminated timber, offering maximum strength and durability while adding sustainability benefits. Featuring 207 guest rooms, the hotel includes a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom suites, as well as ADA and hearing-impaired accessible rooms. The hotel features a variety of amenities, including fully equipped kitchens in each guest room, a fitness center, guest laundry, pet-friendly accommodations and an outdoor gazebo with a fireplace and BBQ area.

“This partnership, working alongside the army, is to provide modern, reliable lodging. At its core, this program is about taking care of people at moments of change…[Our] teams play an important role in helping service members and their families feel welcomed, supported and [feeling] home away from home,” shared Jolyon Bulley, CEO of IHG Hotels & Resorts, Americas.

Since 2009, Centinel and IHG have been the first and only developers to operate under the Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) program. With the opening of Fort Bragg’s Candlewood Suites and the soon-to-be-open Normandy House, in development since November of 2023, visitors will join the more than 3.6 million guests served annually at PAL locations nationwide.    

“This space is designed to support not just the mission, but the people behind the mission at IHG Army Hotels…at IHG, we are proud to serve those who serve,” remarked IHG Army Hotels VP of Operations Chuck Sourbeer.

In addition to the new Candlewood Suites, renovations are underway at Normandy House, which will soon provide another hotel option for service members and families, while preserving an important piece of Fort Bragg’s history. It will join the Historia Collection™, a specially designed PAL portfolio consisting of carefully preserved buildings of great historic importance to the Army and nation. The renovated Normandy House is expected to open later this year.
