Cumberland County Board of Commissioners Chairman Kirk deViere has been selected by Fort Bragg leadership as an Airborne Ambassador. The distinguished recognition honors individuals who have gone above and beyond to enhance the quality of life for Fort Bragg soldiers, their families, Veterans and Department of Defense civilians.

The Fort Bragg Airborne Ambassador Program recognizes community leaders whose service and partnership have made a meaningful impact on the military community. Chairman deViere was selected by Commander of the XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg Lt. Gen. Gregory K. Anderson.

Chairman deViere is a U.S. Army Veteran who served as an infantry officer from 1991 to 2000 and has dedicated decades of service to Veterans, military families and the greater Fort Bragg region. His work has included advocacy for eliminating North Carolina state income tax on military retirement pensions, securing funding for Veterans organizations, supporting military family initiatives and strengthening partnerships between Cumberland County and Fort Bragg leadership.

“Fort Bragg is more than a military installation. It is an essential part of the fabric of Cumberland County,” said Chairman deViere in a press release. “I am deeply honored to receive this recognition and remain committed to supporting soldiers, families, Veterans and the civilian workforce who contribute so much to our community.”

Under Chairman deViere’s leadership, Cumberland County has continued to prioritize strong relationships with Fort Bragg while supporting economic development, Veteran services and initiatives that recognize the unique role of the military community.
