The Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce proudly hosted its inaugural EmpowHer Women’s Business Development Summit on Monday, May 11 at the Dunn Shrine Center, welcoming 100 women from across the region for a day centered around leadership, encouragement, connection and growth.

EmpowHer was created to celebrate and support the women who are leading in business, serving in their communities, balancing careers and families, and making an impact every day. The event featured meaningful conversation, personal development, networking opportunities and authentic stories from women leaders throughout the community.

The summit keynote speaker, Melissa Overton with The Overton Experience, inspired attendees through powerful insight, encouragement, and an interactive personality-focused session that encouraged women to better understand themselves and others in both business and life.

The event also featured a panel discussion with local women leaders representing a variety of industries and experiences, including:

Audio and visual production for the event was provided by Jones Pro Sound, while lunch was catered by Chefella’s Catering.

“After 2 years in the making, we were incredibly encouraged by the response to EmpowHer and the atmosphere created throughout the day,” said Kristina Harrell, CEO of the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce in a press release. “Women connected in meaningful ways, shared experiences, encouraged one another, and left inspired and feeling empowered. This event confirmed the need and desire for spaces where women can support one another, and where they can grow both personally and professionally.”
