The Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce the launch of the Segra Invitational, a new collegiate Division III baseball tournament set to take place Feb. 26–28, 2027, at Segra Stadium in downtown Fayetteville.
The inaugural tournament will bring six collegiate baseball programs from across the country to Cumberland County, including local team Methodist University, alongside Neumann University (Pennsylvania), North Central College (Illinois), Immaculata University (Pennsylvania), Baldwin Wallace University (Ohio) and Franklin College (Indiana). The event is expected to welcome approximately 200 players and an estimated 750 spectators to the destination, generating overnight stays and visitor spending for local hotels, restaurants and businesses.
Hosted at Segra Stadium, home of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, the invitational will give participating teams the opportunity to compete in a professional Minor League Baseball venue while experiencing Fayetteville’s hotels, restaurants, attractions and hospitality throughout the weekend.
Robert Cox, director of sales for the Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, said in a press release, “We are excited to bring the inaugural Segra Invitational to Fayetteville and welcome these outstanding Division III baseball programs to our community. Events like this create meaningful opportunities for local businesses while also showcasing Fayetteville as a destination capable of hosting high-quality sporting events. Segra Stadium provides a unique experience for student-athletes and fans alike, and we look forward to creating a memorable weekend for everyone involved.”
Located in downtown Fayetteville, Segra Stadium is a premier sports and entertainment venue known for hosting Fayetteville Woodpeckers baseball games, concerts, festivals and community events throughout the year. Since opening in 2019, the stadium has become a centerpiece of downtown Fayetteville and an important asset in the destination’s growing sports tourism landscape.
The Segra Invitational further reinforces Fayetteville and Cumberland County’s commitment to expanding sports tourism opportunities and attracting amateur and collegiate events that drive overnight visitation and economic impact to the region.
