James Trading Company is proud to announce the acquisition of Sampson Farmers Hardware, a business whose roots run deep in the history of Clinton and Sampson County and whose commitment to customer service has been a hallmark of the community for generations.

For decades, Farmers Hardware served as a trusted resource for homeowners, farmers, contractors and businesses throughout the region. Around 2007, the business entered a new chapter when it was acquired by Sampson Trading, LLC, a partnership that included members of the Kermit Williamson family, the James Trading Company family and other local investors who shared a commitment to preserving this important community institution. Under that ownership, the business continued operating as Sampson Farmers Hardware, carrying forward the values and traditions that customers had come to expect.

As James Trading Company assumes full ownership, the company wishes to recognize the tremendous contributions of the Williamson family, whose dedication, leadership and commitment to customer service helped establish and maintain the reputation of Farmers Hardware and Sampson Farmers Hardware over many years. Their stewardship has left a lasting mark on both the business and the community it serves.

“The history of Sampson Farmers Hardware is a story of service, trust and community involvement,” said James Trading Company President Robby James in a press release. “The Williamson family, along with the partners of Sampson Trading, LLC, worked diligently to preserve and strengthen a business that has served this community for generations. We are grateful for their efforts and honored to continue that legacy.”

Customers will continue to see a familiar face leading daily operations. Randy Kelly, who has been an integral part of the Clinton location for many years, will continue as the store's operator and manager. Kelly is also a 30-year partner in James Trading Company and has played an important role in the company's growth and success.

“Randy’s experience, leadership and relationships within the community make him the ideal person to continue the next chapter of this business,” James said in a press release. “Customers know him, trust him, and appreciate the level of service he provides. His continued presence ensures continuity while positioning the store for future growth.”

James Trading Company plans to build upon the strong foundation established by Farmers Hardware, the Williamson family and the partners of Sampson Trading, LLC. The company will continue its focus on outstanding customer service while exploring opportunities to enhance product offerings and improve the overall customer experience.

The acquisition represents both the continuation of a proud tradition and the beginning of an exciting new chapter. James Trading Company remains committed to preserving the values that have made Sampson Farmers Hardware a trusted name throughout Sampson County while ensuring the business remains strong for future generations.
