Carolina Eye Associates acquires Southeastern Eye Care in Lumberton; Welcomes Dr. Scott Mouser to its expanding network

Carolina Eye Associates, P.A. is pleased to announce the acquisition of Southeastern Eye Care, the long-standing ophthalmology practice of Dr. Scott Mouser in Lumberton, N.C. The practice will now operate as the newest Carolina Eye Associates Lumberton clinic, strengthening CEA’s commitment to providing comprehensive, patient-centered eye care throughout the region. Dr. Mouser and his professional staff will continue caring for patients from their current location as they transition into the CEA family.
A respected ophthalmologist with more than two decades of service to the Lumberton community, Dr. Scott Mouser brings deep clinical experience, a relationship-driven approach to care and a long history of community involvement to Carolina Eye Associates.
Dr. Mouser completed his undergraduate degree in business at the University of Tennessee. He went on to earn his medical degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn. Following medical school, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
Dr. Mouser practices comprehensive ophthalmology, including laser procedures and general eye care, and has built a career focused on providing broad, accessible services to patients of all ages.
Dr. Mouser moved to Lumberton in the summer of 2004 to assume Dr. Bailey’s practice, having left a group ophthalmology practice in Tennessee where he had worked since 2002. After meeting longtime Lumberton ophthalmologist Dr. Bailey, Dr. Mouser purchased his solo practice, then known as Southeastern Eye Clinic, and transitioned it to Southeastern Eye Care, preserving the legacy of a practice that has existed in Lumberton since the 1960s.
For nearly 22 years, Dr. Mouser has operated Southeastern Eye Care as a solo practitioner, continuing a combined five-plus decades of continuous eye care service to the community.
Dr. Mouser describes his philosophy simply: “It’s all about the relationship you have with the patient.” He believes that establishing personal connections builds trust, improves compliance, and leads to better long-term outcomes.
Over the years, these relationships have become a defining part of his practice. He has cared for children who are now adults with children of their own, and he has walked with families through decades of life changes. He has been an active member of the Robeson County Medical Society, where he served as president for several years. He also participates in church activities and values being part of the community where he lives and works.
Dr. Mouser shared that joining Carolina Eye Associates represents an exciting new chapter in his career. He values CEA’s long-standing tradition of patient care. He looks forward to having colleagues again for the first time in nearly 25 years. He appreciates the ability to offer patients immediate access to subspecialty care under one umbrella. He believes the transition will benefit his patients through expanded services, collaborative care, and the support of a large, multispecialty team.
