Members of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development North Carolina team participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony with Farm Chemicals Inc. on Wednesday, July 22.
Rural Development invested $2.3 million with Farm Chemicals Inc. through the USDA Fertilizer Production Expansion Program grant to build two 500,000 gallon storage tanks.
This expansion will double the amount of fertilizer and nutrient alternatives, produced by Farm Chemicals Inc. to North Carolina farmers.
“This investment demonstrates the Trump Administration’s commitment to putting America’s farmers first by strengthening our domestic fertilizer supply chain and ensuring producers have the resources they need to succeed,” said Rural Development North Carolina Area Specialist Whitney Lovette in a press release. “The $2.3 million fertilizer production investment in Farm Chemicals Inc. will help increase fertilizer availability for North Carolina growers, support good-paying rural jobs, and reinforce the long-term strength of American agriculture. USDA Rural Development is proud to partner with businesses that are expanding opportunities in rural communities while
helping feed, fuel, and clothe our nation.”
Rural Development fertilizer programs are open to for-profit businesses and corporations,
nonprofit organizations, Tribes and Tribal organizations, producer-owned cooperatives and corporations, certified benefit corporations, and state or local governments. Private businesses or organizations must be independently owned and operated.
USDA Rural Development provides loans, grants and technical assistance to support economic development, infrastructure, and quality-of-life improvements in rural communities across North Carolina and the nation.
