CommWell Health expands access to healthcare with new community mobile unit

CommWell Health, a Community Health Center system, is proud to announce the addition of a new state-of-the-art community mobile unit to its fleet. The expansion strengthens CommWell Health’s ability to bring high-quality medical and dental services directly to the communities it serves across southeastern North Carolina.

The 32-foot mobile unit is fully equipped to provide both medical and dental services.

The unit features:

Dual Dental Chairs: Outfitted for comprehensive oral healthcare.
Digital Imaging Capabilities: Allowing for on-site diagnostics.
Advanced Connectivity: Wireless access to electronic health records to ensure seamless patient care.
Operational flexibility: Easy transition to provide medical services and support brick-and-mortar CommWell Health locations when needed.

The mobile health unit will primarily serve communities across Bladen, Brunswick, Harnett, Johnston, Pender and Sampson counties. Additionally, the unit is built to respond to emergencies, providing critical care to disaster-affected areas and communities.

“The new mobile health unit brings us one step closer to our mission of delivery and improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve,” said Chief Executive Officer of CommWell Health Tamara Dunn in a press release. “It enhances our ability to meet patients exactly where they are.”

This addition to CommWell Health’s mobile fleet was made possible through a $589,000 Capital Assistance for Hurricane Response and Recovery Efforts (CARE) grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The grant also supported the installation of emergency generators at CommWell Health’s Bolivia and Newton Grove/Spivey’s Corner locations, ensuring operational resilience during future power outages and natural disasters.
