Fayetteville State University receives $500k from Golden LEAF

The Golden LEAF Board of Directors recently awarded a total of $16.7 million in funding to support job creation and economic investment, workforce preparedness and agriculture projects. 

Through the Open Grants Program, the Golden LEAF Board awarded four projects totaling $1,753,875, including one project in Cumberland County. 

Fayetteville State University in Cumberland County was awarded $500,000 to purchase high-fidelity mannequins for an additional simulation lab that will support the expansion of the nursing program.

"The projects approved by the Board today demonstrate the importance of having a funding strategy that creates lasting economic opportunity," said Golden LEAF President and Chief Executive Officer Scott T. Hamilton in a press release. "From supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening agriculture to preparing industrial sites and building new training programs, these projects will grow the skilled workforce, support the agricultural economy, and help create jobs, especially in rural North Carolina."
