N.C. Department of Transportation crews are set to close part of a Hoke County road for nearly two months starting next week as part of the ongoing N.C. 211 widening project.
Starting Aug. 24 at 7 a.m., a section of Turnpike Road will close near the intersection with N.C. 211 (Aberdeen Road). This will allow crews to construct the new eastbound lane of N.C. 211 at the Turnpike Road intersection. Turnpike Road is scheduled to reopen by Oct. 7, weather permitting.
During the closure, motorists will be detoured via West Palmer Street, Laurinburg Road and Wallace McLean Road.
Transportation officials remind drivers to plan ahead, be alert to construction crews in the area and obey all posted traffic signs.
