Fort Bragg to modernize with upcoming campus-style dining venue

To improve health and quality of life for service members and the Fort Bragg community, the U.S. Army will soon launch a new Campus Style Dining Venue (CSDV) model on post, converting traditional military dining facilities into dynamic, university-style food hubs.

The initiative is part of an ongoing Army-wide effort to overhaul garrison dining options by partnering with commercial culinary contractors, including Compass Group USA, Inc. The CSDV concept replaces standard military dining facilities (DFACs) with modernized, food-court-style venues featuring varied culinary stations, expanded operational hours and a focus on performance nutrition.

“The CSDV will provide Fort Bragg Soldiers with a modern dining experience that incorporates new technologies, innovative concepts, and a greater emphasis on proper nutrition to fuel performance and recovery,” said Senior Culinary Management for 3rd Corps Sustainment Command Sgt. 1st Class Jermone Fisher in a press release. “In lockstep with the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) program, the CSDVs will help create a food service environment that supports Soldier wellness, strengthens unit readiness, and better prepares our force for today’s Army.”

Key features of the upcoming Fort Bragg CSDV model include:

Executive Chef and Dietitian Oversight: Each venue is staffed with a professional executive chef and a registered dietitian to ensure recipes align with the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) standards while leveraging locally sourced ingredients.
Diverse Culinary Choices: Food stations range from custom grills and made-to-order delis to fresh salad bars and globally inspired ethnic cuisine options.
Flexible Access: Extended hours enable Soldiers returning from early-morning physical training or late-night field operations to access hot, nutritious food outside conventional mealtimes.
The MEC 09 Coding: To utilize the CSDV, Soldiers must have the MEC 09 administrative code updated in their personnel file. Please see your unit S1 to verify status and process access.

"With over 15 years of experience in Army food service, I can proudly say that the introduction of Campus Style Dining Venues (CSDVs) represents another positive step in the right direction,” said Fisher in a press release. “It is an honor to be part of the Army’s modernization of how we feed and fuel our Soldiers.”

As renovations and transitions occur across post dining operations in preparation for the opening, service members will eventually be able to see the facility location, operating schedules and mobile kiosk stops through the official My Army Post app.
