The Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation (ASOMF), in partnership with Mass Virtual, will officially open the new Airborne V/R Experience at the U.S. Army Airborne & Special Operations Museum on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026.
The family-friendly experience gives visitors an immersive glimpse into what it takes to prepare for a paratrooper’s jump day. Through real-world footage, interactive storytelling and advanced virtual reality technology, participants will step beyond the Museum’s galleries and experience Airborne history in an entirely new way.
“The Airborne V/R Experience represents an exciting new chapter for the Museum and Foundation,” said Margaret Britten, executive director of the Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation, in a press release. “By combining history with immersive technology, we can help visitors of all ages connect more deeply with the courage, discipline, and dedication of America’s paratroopers. We are incredibly proud to bring this experience to our community.”
The project was first announced during the Museum’s 2025 National Airborne Day celebration, when visitors received an early preview of the technology. Since then, ASOMF and Mass Virtual have worked together to create an experience that honors the legacy of the Airborne community while educating and inspiring a new generation.
The Airborne V/R Experience will cost $15 per person. Admission to the U.S. Army Airborne & Special Operations Museum remains free.
