The Renaissance Day Spa and Alternative Wellness, known for its wide array of alternative wellness therapies, is preparing to launch a new luxury service as it renovates existing spaces and builds a new location set to open at the end of 2027.
Mazzy Spencer, general manager at Renaissance Day Spa, discussed the changes underway at the spa’s Purdue Drive and Skateway Drive locations, as well as plans for a new building to replace the current Purdue location.
Renaissance is introducing a head spa service, which is projected to open in early October.
Visitors to the head spa will enjoy a deeply relaxing scalp and wellness ritual that combines cleansing and nourishing treatments, water therapy, steam and massage. Unlike a traditional salon service such as a shampoo and hairstyle, a head spa is designed as a total body relaxation experience.
“It is designed as a relaxation experience, but it can focus more heavily on scalp care as well,” Spencer said.
The 60-minute head spa service begins with a hair wash to remove dead skin cells, product buildup and impurities from the hair follicles, followed by scalp-focused sensory techniques, including specialized combing.
“It’s like whenever you were younger, and people would ask to play with your hair, and you were like, ‘Wow, this feels so good.’ It’s kind of that same deal,” Spencer explained.
A mini facial, neck and shoulder massage, and deep-conditioning hair mask treatment are also included in the head spa service.
To build anticipation for the launch and create a higher level of service for valued clients, the spa established a “Founding 100” program, which was a list of introductory head spa reservations that filled quickly. Members of Renaissance’s Founding 100 receive a locked-in introductory rate, priority booking 48 hours ahead of general clients, a free gift at their first appointment and $25 off their next visit.
The head spa launch is being accompanied by renovation projects at both of the spa’s existing businesses, located at 1534 Purdue Drive and 143 Skateway Drive in Fayetteville.
At the Purdue Drive location, a treatment room is being redone to house the new head spa service, with plumbing work completed and shelving removed to make space.
At the Skateway Drive location, a treatment room is being converted into a second head spa treatment space, which will also double as another treatment room for services such as massages and facials.
Renaissance Day Spa is also constructing a new building for its Purdue Drive location to move into in the fall of 2027. The company has secured property on Village Drive, less than a mile from the current Purdue Drive location.
The new building will be laid out on one seamless floor. Design plans, still being finalized, include a head spa, additional treatment rooms for massage services and a serene courtyard space.
Renaissance’s growth reflects the broader market strategy of pairing traditional spa services with more specialized, technology-driven treatments.
Beyond the head spa, Renaissance offers a broad range of massage services, from standard Swedish and deep tissue massages to signature massages that offer clients aromatherapy, a farmhouse-sourced “honey heel glaze” foot treatment and hot stone therapy. Other specialty massage offerings include sports massage (stretch-based), craniosacral therapy, lymphatic drainage massage and reflexology.
“Massages are our craziest, busiest service, so many people want massages right now,” Spencer said. “And we always say that we’ve got amazing therapists across the board.”
The spa’s facial menu includes classic facials, vitamin C-infused facials, lactic acid peels and microdermabrasion, along with hydrofacial treatments. Its platinum hydrofacial includes professional-grade LED light therapy and lymphatic therapy for the neck and décolletage area, while its “wet diamond” hydrofacial uses a diamond-tip microdermabrasion for deeper product penetration and elevated results.
Renaissance Day Spa also emphasizes alternative wellness therapies that clients can explore independently, including compression therapy, a red light bed and two flotation options: a Salt Water Float, available exclusively at the Skateway Drive location, and a Zerobody Dry Float paired with NuCalm technology, available exclusively at the Purdue Drive location.
“We believe that you should be able to go and rejuvenate your body in different ways,” Spencer said. “We wanted to find therapeutic add-ons or alternatives to offerings like massages and facials and the normal stuff that clients seek, alternatives that are very much targeted to health and wellness.”
These alternative therapy offerings are designed as add-ons to spa day therapies or for walk-ins and other guests who want to sample all of the alternative therapies available at a discounted day pass rate.
The Zerobody Dry Float bed removes pressure from the neck and spine by suspending the body’s weight on a warm, water-filled membrane.
“The idea is that even when you’re lying down, your body weight holds you down, but this is meant to support you gently and give you that release,” Spencer said.
The treatment is paired with NuCalm, a patented technology that uses a biosignal-processing disc placed on the wrist in combination with specialized audio to lower adrenaline and cortisol levels. Spencer said a 20-minute NuCalm session is comparable to two to three hours of REM sleep.
The treatment is used to support sleep-cycle resets and help manage symptoms like insomnia and anxiety. The Dry Float service is available in 20, 30 or 50-minute sessions.
With a new head spa set to debut, treatment spaces being reworked and a new Village Drive building on the way, The Renaissance Day Spa is investing in both its services and its capacity to grow. As demand for massage and alternative therapy spa services continues, Renaissance is positioning itself to serve a broad range of clients in the years ahead.
