Hello, loyal readers. I am writing to you as someone older and therefore wiser (okay, I’m actually writing this the day before my birthday, but you will receive your copy after I’ve already celebrated).
I was reminded of how truly blessed I am to have such wonderful friends and family as I celebrated my birthday on Sept. 30. I am endlessly grateful for my community and the opportunity to share in special moments with great company. I’m happy to report that my tradition of having a virtual birthday party with my closest friends from my hometown continued on strong for the fourth year since we all moved to different cities and states. I was also excited to play board games with local friends at the new board game cafe downtown, Thirsty Gamers Cafe, a great place to gather for a good time.
In addition to honoring traditions, I’m also embracing what is new. I recently moved into a new apartment, and I’m very much enjoying the change in environment and proximity to some of my favorite Fayetteville businesses to frequent. I’m about 85% settled in after one week, and I’m eager to continue cultivating the space to feel cozy and inviting.
Speaking of traditions and new beginnings, these were a hot topic at the recent Power Breakfast (see page 5), where third-generation owners and employees of local family-owned businesses shared some insights into how they’ve sustained their legacies (hint: it’s a combination of both honoring tradition and embracing change).
If you missed this Power Breakfast, be sure to go ahead and mark your calendars for the next one, which will be held on Dec. 8. Details on the theme and speakers will be announced soon! We look forward to welcoming our returning guests back as they continue their tradition of attendance, as well as new guests who are ready to try something new.
As we get closer to the holiday season, remember the value that lies in both tradition and change, and consider how those two things can serve both you and your business.
