FTCC Finance Department earns State Auditor’s Award of Excellence

Fayetteville Technical Community College’s Finance Department has earned the State Auditor’s Award of Excellence from the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor for fiscal year 2025.

The award recognizes public entities that demonstrate exceptional discipline, accuracy and transparency in preparing annual financial statements and federal compliance audits. It is available to state agencies, universities, community colleges and other public entities that meet the state auditor’s highest standards for fiscal accountability.

To qualify for the award, an organization must submit its unaudited financial statement package by the deadline established by the North Carolina Office of the State Controller. The organization’s completed financial statement audit also must contain no significant audit adjustments, reportable findings, significant deficiencies or material weaknesses.

Additionally, an award recipient must complete the audit process without delays, comply with applicable laws and demonstrate that it is not facing financial or going-concern issues. The organization also must not be under investigation by the state auditor.

In a letter announcing the award, State Auditor Dave Boliek congratulated Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services and Chief Financial Officer Debbie Todd and her team for their exceptional financial management, accountability and commitment to public stewardship. 

“Earning this recognition is not simply a measure of compliance,” Dave Boliek wrote. “It is evidence of a culture that values responsible management of public resources.”

The award affirms Fayetteville Technical Community College’s commitment to maintaining accurate financial records, meeting critical reporting deadlines and safeguarding taxpayer resources. 

The State Auditor’s Award of Excellence represents a significant achievement for the college and distinguishes its Finance Department for meeting rigorous standards across each phase of the state audit process.
