FSU receives $250,000 commitment from FedEx

Fayetteville State University just announced a $250,000 commitment from FedEx to support a grant proposal sponsored by Dr. Juanette Council, vice chancellor of student affairs at the school.

Fayetteville State University is one of eight schools in the nation to be part of FedEx's HBCU Student Ambassador Program. 

The grant has already benefited 106 students and will continue to do so by providing additional resources for career and leadership development. FSU celebrated this occasion with a ceremony. 

"We are proud to collaborate with such a wonderful and esteemed company like FedEx to encourage leadership, professional development, and student support through our Leadership, Professional Development, and Student Support Program," said Council.

One student who benefitted from the grant is Brianna Alston, a junior  and accounting major at FSU. As a first-generation college student, Alston is one of the FedEx Ambassadors from FSU to participate in the program and was given the opportunity to travel to New York with Chancellor Darrell T. Allison for the "Ringing of the Bell" ceremony. 

The program demonstrates a continued commitment to helping prepare students to be future leaders with opportunities. 

"FedEx is proud to support the Leadership, Professional Development, and Student Support Program at Fayetteville State University to enhance career and workforce readiness for students," said Tracee Walls, managing director of equity, inclusion, and engagement at FedEx Ground. "We continue to build on longstanding relationships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and this investment demonstrates our commitment to developing clear pathways for future leaders."
