Fort Bragg Clay Target Center, one of the largest shooting facilities in North Carolina, hosted the 2021 Armed Services Skeet Championship May 17-21.

Competitors eligible to compete consisted of active-duty, retired and veteran service members and their families; 140 participants competed.

The local event is not the only one of its kind. In fact, the annual shoot, sponsored by The Armed Forces Skeet Association, is hosted at gun clubs nationwide.

The opening ceremonies began on May 17, followed by four rotations each day. The winner of this year's event was Stuart Brown, who scored 497.

The event center is managed by Fort Bragg Morale Welfare & Recreation and is designed for competitive events such as the skeet championship. The center boasts of 12 competition level skeet fields, 6 fields overlaid with trap and 1 wobble trap field, a voice-release system for trap and 6 lighted ranges.

Plans are already in place for the 61st annual skeet championship. Next year's event is scheduled for May 13-15, 2022 at Jacksonville Clay Target Sports Center.
