The Southeastern Economic Development Commission is hosting its 54th annual meeting on Monday, April 25 at noon.
“The SEDC Annual Meeting brings together stakeholders directly involved in economic development from our 12 member counties in southeastern North Carolina,” stated Pamela Bostic, executive director for the Southeastern Economic Development Commission. “The Commission is an Economic Development District designated by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) to assist its member governments and other eligible applicants in securing federal grant funds from the EDA to create new jobs, retain existing jobs, and leverage private investment in our District.”
The event will take place at the Cape Fear Vineyard & Winery in Elizabethtown. The event will highlight the activities from the Commission in the past year with a keynote speaker in attendance.
The keynote speaker will be Scott T. Hamilton, the president of the Golden LEAF Foundation.
Hamilton previously served as the executive director of the Appalachian Regional Commission in Washington D.C. and other various leadership roles in other regional economic development organizations across North Carolina.
“This event will highlight the projects funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration and the assistance provided to secure funding from other state and federal sources through our Disaster Recovery Coordination across the District. Many projects in our region have utilized Golden LEAF funds to leverage the EDA dollars. We are excited to have Mr. Scott Hamilton, President of the Golden LEAF Foundation, serve as the keynote speaker for this important event,” added Bostic.
