Located at 160 Brookstone Drive in Cameron North Carolina, the Veteran's Farm of North Carolina hosted its grand opening on June 4.

"We are a 501c3 that takes veterans and teaches them how to farm," said Executive Director, Robert Elliott. "We have been building on a farm for a training facility for the past nine or ten months and this is an all encompassing farm that covers livestock, field crops, hydroponics, greenhouse, and even some mushrooms."

At the event, there were several dedications and presentations of awards with food provided following closing remarks.

The Farm dedicated its agricultural technical training facility to Senator Brent Jackson and Senator Kirk deViere, for their contribution in the budget to build the facility. At this facility, veterans can learn how to work on plumbing and electrical and carpentry skills, as well as mechanics.

The greenhouse was dedicated to Liz Meyer from North Carolina State University, who has been a supporter of what the Veteran's Farm of North Carolina has been doing.

The Veteran's Farm of North Carolina is designed and dedicated to returning service members and veterans of all ears to educate on all aspects of agriculture. Individuals that participate through the Farm learn by farm production models of sustainable livestock production and organic vegetable production.

The Farm also helps existing farmers with consultation and equipment usage to keep debt low and expansion high.

The Veteran’s Farm of NC is currently looking for more donors and students to support and teach, those interested can go here to learn more.
