Cumberland County Schools (CCS) proudly announces significant achievements in Career and Technical Education (CTE) recognized at the recent North Carolina CTE Summer Conference. The district celebrates the distinguished honors received by two of its premier professionals.

CCS’ Career and Technical Education Coordinator, Taneka Williams has been named the Sandhills Region CTE Administrator of the Year. This accolade acknowledges her work and dedication to advancing CTE programs within the district. Her leadership extends beyond the district as she recently concluded her tenure as president of the NC Association of Career and Technical Education Administration Division. Looking ahead, she will serve as the NC CTE Foundation President for the 2024-2025 school year.

Additionally, Sean Garcia, a CTE teacher at Gray's Creek High School, was honored as the South Central Regional Agriculture Teacher of the Year. This award, sponsored by the NC Agriculture Teachers Association (NCATA), highlights Garcia's contributions to agricultural education. His dedication to teaching in the field of agriculture has earned him recognition within the educational community.

The North Carolina Association for Career Technical Education (NCACTE) serves as the professional organization for North Carolina educators associated with Career Technical Education. The organization unifies personnel in all types of Career and Technical Education, assuming and maintaining active state leadership in initiating, expanding, improving and promoting CTE.

The NCATA is a professional organization dedicated to the enhancement and support of the state and local Agriculture Education Programs and NCATA Members. NCATA aspires to be a voice for all agriculture teachers, led by members who are well-trained and knowledgeable of their duties and responsibilities.
